This tiny little island located in Devon in the UK is one of the UK’s best-kept secrets. Located at one of the lowest points you can get to in the UK, this tidal island is actually connected to the mainland at low tide and is truly the epitome of ideal British country living.

Oh and at high tide, you can get a sea tractor to take you in (see picture below!) how amazing is that? It’s like this weird looking vehicle that almost looks like it’s been put together at the spur of the moment.

There are only 5 buildings on this island which only further adds to the appeal! One of the said buildings is the only hotel you can stay in on the island i.e. The Burgh Island Hotel which is an “art deco hotel” with excellent trip advisor reviews.

As you can imagine, prices are a little higher than average here but this kind of vacation is definitely worth it even if it’s just a long weekend away. There is also a pub on the island so your evening refreshment needs are also covered!

Holidays like this are such a welcome change from city breaks which can sometimes leave you feeling like you need another holiday to recover from the first holiday.

A chance to immerse yourself in nature, get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and ‘recharge’ in the most serene and picturesque of surrounds – this is definitely a location to be considered quite seriously for your next holiday away.
