Yup! We’re up in the Arctic Circle.

I am writing this post looking right outside my window at a snow-clad mountain in one of the most beautiful places (and certainly the highest place) we’ve ever visit – Tromso in Norway.

Sounds like a bold claim but I’m gonna put the photos down below and you can see exactly what I mean.

I’ve got so much to tell you but there also so much exploring waiting to be done so I’m just gonna make this brief (I literally popped in to show you some photos though if you’re on Instagram, we’re @HandLuggageOnly) you can see a lot more of what we’ve been up here. Especially on Instagram stories.

The sheer kindness of the people here has been absolutely amazing (*see the Instagram post embedded below to see what I mean…).

Already, we’ve even gotten to see the Northern Lights, hot-tub it across the fjords, catch wild Norwegian cod and even go for a dip in the freezing Arctic Ocean, in the relatively short time we’ve been here for so far.

It’s been such an amazing experience so far and I’ll definitely tell you a lot more in the coming days and weeks but for now – here are some photos from our time in Norway so far.

As though the beauty of Norway wasn’t enough to make you fall in love with this place, today we found even more reasons to fall in love with Norway. 😍Here’s why – we arrived here with no luggage (all our suitcases never made it here) – the airline left them in Oslo… or took them to a different destination. No one really knows yet. As it’s Easter there’s pretty much zero flights in today and no shops opened. The locals heard about our plight (while we tried speaking on the phone to the airline) and did a whip around and got clothes for all of us! Everything from shirts, right through to cosy duck down jacket right out of their very own wardrobes! Then someone drove us to a shop and got the owner to open it specially for us so we could get toiletries, socks and underwear. Then we got invited for dinner (all 4 of us) in Tromso by a totally different set of people visiting Sommarøy. And then, when we stopped on the road to take photos of wild reindeer 🦌🦌, a guy driving by, saw me waiting to cross the road and stopped to ask if I needed any help. So much kindness here today! The people here are absolutely incredible… yet another reason to fall in love with this beautiful part of the world!!! 😍
