I’m a sucker for a nicely decorated home and I think increasingly, the use of beautifully designed (yet functional) appliances can be one way to spruce up your kitchen, living room or even bedroom. Recently, I’ve been obsessed with getting a really nice coffee machine, once that can take me from actual coffee beans to a delicious finely brewed cuppa coffee and this obsession with coffee machines has taken on a life of it’s own and developed into a full fledged obsession with home appliances! To share in my obsession, here are a few things I’ve had my eye on lately which I daresay you’ll probably like too… (click small images below for more details on items I’ve selected)
.) Mixers: Not just any regular mixer, the retro-looking pastel (or bold) colour types. I’ve seen them on a few TV shows lately and I get some serious appliance lust while looking at them and my relaible (yet perhaps not so pretty) hand mixer. I only ever use them to mix eggs (yes, I like my eggs well mixed) or to make pancake mix but that’s neither here nor there. I may very well surprise you all and bake a cake with them but I leave any baking to Yaya really…
.) Coffee Machine: Only the creme-de-la-creme will do here (pun intended). 🙂 I want one that does it all and shines like a proud peacock while doing so too! The only thing better than tasty coffee is tasty coffee from a swanky ass machine that I can show off to all my friends! 🙂
.) Sewing Machines: I can’t really sew but I’m really working on it. I just ripped a pair of my favourites trousers from dropping it too low on the dancefloor… Actually, it make have been from indulging in way too many ice creams to cool me off in the heat in Singapore but I’ll go with the former excuse. Anyway, ripping my trousers got me thinking of other things I’d really love to mend and this has strengthened my resolve to a.) Get a sewing machine and b.) learn how to sew.
.) Toasters: This is one of the most used equipments in my apartment (you can’t beat some good old ‘beans on toast’) and so it only makes sense that I would want something that looks great too! Silver is typically the norm but I’d go for a boldly coloured one here.
.) Vacuum Cleaners: It takes using a really crappy vacuum cleaner to appreciate a great one. To be entirely honest, as long as the vacuum cleaner works really well, I’m happy with it. Having it look nice and stylish is an added bonus to functionality!
.) Microwaves: Another staple in my house, I like these nice and shiny as as multifunctional as possible. Unlike with toasters and mixers, I’d rather avoid strong colours here and go for more subtle metallic tones.
.) Televisions: My favourite home equipment ever!!! I love a good bit of telly so it’s only natural that I would want to get the very best when it comes to this! They’re not quite as expensive as they used to be before so that’s something I guess… 🙂
.) Home Cinema Systems: The butter to the bread that is my TV! The only better than watching a movie in crystal clear quality is to have equally crystal clear sound!
.) Lighting: I used to love my lights quite bright and almost stark but over time, I’ve become more and more of a sucker for mood lighting and dare I say it, nice lamps! I’m also at one of two ends with this – I like them either really futuristic and unusual looking or really old and traditional.
.) Kettles: Living in the UK, this was always bound to be a fan-favourite given the amount of tea we drink and indeed in my home, this is something I pay extra attention too! I like my kettles two ways – fast and shiny!
There you go, now go on with making the most of your living space! 🙂
