Only ten reasons? Well, trust me there’re a lot more than that but I wanted to really share some of the top ones that’ll hopefully get you thinking of visiting Menorca.
Honestly, the island is totally stunning and there is so many things to do in Menorca that are perfect in the summer months.
1.) The beaches here are incredible
We’re talking beautiful fine sandy beaches and crystal clear blue waters. Pretty much every beach postcard rolled into one.
2.) Menorca has the best vineyards
There’s wine here! Not just any old wine, delicious Spanish wine is grown in vineyards.
Needless to say, a trip to one of these vineyards is already a brilliant plan for an afternoon well spent. And, if you choose right, you might get a vineyard in a farm that makes its own cheese. The homemade wine and cheese, which couldn’t be a further cry from the stuff we get at in supermarkets.
3.) There’s a bar in a cliff- cave!
There’s a cave in the rocks and it has the most amazing sunset views.
Oh, and did I mention that this cave has a bar too! It’s a great spot for a sunset.
4.) The weather is gorgeous
The weather is pretty consistently hot all summer (and to be honest, outside of summertime). Being in the Balearics, you can probably understand why…
5.) You can explore a historic capital, Ciutadella
The town of Ciutadella de Menorca is pretty lovely to visit and is the historic capital of Menorca. It’s a place you definitely have to visit.
6.) There’s a newer capital that has so much history
Mahon is today’s capital in Menorca and well worth visiting when exploring Menorca. That being said, it’s likely you’ll actually fly in here. There’s no excuse not to visit!
7.) The landscape is dramatic
The landscapes all around Menorca are totally dramatic and well worth seeing. For me, I’d always say to go ahead and rent a car. It’s the best way to explore the island and you’ll be able to follow the coastal and inland routes that are stunning.
8.) There is so much prehistory in Menorca
There are a lot of ancient structures (some of which are over 3,000 years old) which are dotted around the island to discover. Till date, no one knows how they got there but they’re rather impressive to see.
9.) The island is nice and tranquil
The island is much quiet and laidback so it’s a much better place to visit when you just wanna relax and get away from it all.
Though it should be noted that it’s not lacking in nightlife if you are looking for it, too. That being said, it’s much more chilled.
10.) Menorca is great for hikes
A lot of the island is zoned off to stop a random building from popping up all around the island leaving more natural for you to explore and enjoy!
Even if you’re not into hiking or long walk, we can all appreciate an uninterrupted view of mountains or the sea without some building obscuring said view.
