Vancouver is a delicious city, and I say that literally! There are so many mouth-watering places to eat, so many places to explore and a shed load of the best bakeries in Vancouver to chow-down at.
Now, there’s one thing that I always pride myself on and that’s knowing my puddings, pastries and pain au chocolat!
If I find anything dipped, dusted or glazed I will almost guarantee that I’ll have tried it (well, almost everything), that’s why I wanted to share some of my favourite bakeries where you can devour a mountain of delicious desserts.
With that in mind, and after a day exploring, make sure to pop into some of the best bakeries in Vancouver when you visit.
Have the best trip!
1.) Lee’s Donuts
Perched in the market at Granville Island, Lee’s Donuts is easily the best I’ve ever tasted. It’s one of the best bakeries in Vancouver for doughnuts, for sure!
Actually, I use ‘tasted’ lightly, I think I shoved this into my face and downed it like a seagull gobbling its food.
Anyway, before I over-analyse my eating habits, make sure you try their ring doughnuts that are cooked fresh throughout the day.

2.) Nero Belgian Waffles
Based on Robson Street, Nero Belgian Waffles are known for having some of the tastiest Belgian Waffles in all of British Columbia.
Make sure to try their Banella waffle (with lashings of Nutella and bananas) and their, tummy-loving, Liege waffle. They’re so good!
If you’re more of a savoury than sweet tooth fiend, grab yourself a Chevre Doux which is filled with yummy goats cheese.
3.) New Town Bakery
Although there’s about 3 New Town Bakeries, the main one is on Pender Street and serves some pretty epic Apple Tart and some Asian pastries that are too good to ignore.
This Asian and Western bakery is the perfect place to visit when around Pender Street, especially If you’re looking for more than just a sweet treat, make sure to try their freshly made shrimp dumplings. It really is one of the best bakeries in Vancouver to visit.
4.) Purebread
One of the things l love most about Purebread is their huge mix of both sweet and savoury treats that line the store.
Perched on Hastings Street, in Gastown, Purebread is an amazing little place to fill that afternoon rumble in your tummy. It’s easily one of the best bakeries in Vancouver if you’re fancying some bacon and egg brioche and have a cup of their loose-leaf tea
If you’re in Whistler, make sure to head to their store in the town itself.
5.) Beaucoup Bakery
Relatively close to Granville Island, it’s located just under the bridge that connects downtown to this gorgeous neighbourhood on Fir Street. We loved it and it’s easily one of the best bakeries in Vancouver to visit when on this side of the city.
The bakery has become famed for its amazing croissants and it’s a great place to stop for a pain au chocolat or a cheese and green onion scone. You’ll love them.
6.) Small Victory
Based on Homer Street, Small Victory is my favourite place to visit scones, clotted cream and lashings of jam, as a Brit, this makes me so happy!
If you’re looking for an early evening treat, grab yourself their cookie and milk option which is uh-mazing.
7.) Thierry Café
Now, I’m not a fan of macaroons so I can’t attest to how delicious these were but they certainly make a killer hot-chocolate and chocolate succè – you’ll love it.
Based on Alberni Street, it’s easy to visit when you’re smack in the centre of Vancouver.
8.) Stuart’s Bakery
No trip to Vancouver is complete without a visit to Granville Island. One place you definitely should visit once you arrive is Stuart’s Bakery.
Make sure to try their blueberry tarts and huge black forest cakes. These alone make it one of the best bakeries in Vancouver to visit. They’re such a treat.
9.) Thomas Haas Chocolates
Close to Connaught Park on Broadway, make sure you try their handcrafted chocolates, my favourite is the pear and ginger but also the lemongrass, which sounds a little fringe (and smells like a spa) but they’re totally tasty.
If pastries are more your thing, gorge on one of their fresh-fruit Danish. So good!
10.) Cadeaux Bakery
Perched on Powell Street, Cadeaux Bakery makes some yummy dark chocolate croissant and cakes that are great if you’re looking to celebrate.
As a Londoner, I have to tell you to try their London Fog cake too, it’s yummy.
11.) Bel Café
Based on West Georgia Street, Bel Café is the perfect place to go for a double-lemon tart or their Salted Caramel Pot de Crème.
Actually, if you’re visiting Vancouver just have both! After all, it’s a treat and there are so many of the best bakeries in Vancouver to try.
