I’m one of those people who genuinely gets over-excited whenever I see a place on TV that I’ve seen in person. It doesn’t even matter where it is, as long as I recognise it (or indeed even if I have no idea and someone reminds me that I’ve seen it) I can be found almost instantaneous bouncing off the walls in excitement. If you are even the slightest bit like me and get excited by the chance to see famed TV or movie locations in person, then boy have I got just the thing for you! Here are some pretty famous places you probably recognise from equally famous movies, that you can travel to go and see in person!
.) Christ Church, Oxford (UK) from Harry Potter: This college in Oxford University is the scene for many a Harry Potter movie especially the dining hall in the movie! Best part, you can see the college in person when you visit Oxford and perhaps immerse yourself in a little bit of Hogwarts.
.) Port Royal (Jamaica) from Pirates of the Caribbean: Perhaps you might find a pirate or two lurking around?
.) Borough Market, London (UK) from Bridget Jones Diary: Bridget’s home in the movie was actually set in a flat above The Globe Pub here in Borough Market! Other scenes from the movie were shot in and around Borough Market too.
.) Spectre, Alabama (USA) from Big Fish: This make belief town from the movie is still available to visit though it is a tad derelict compared to how it looks in the movie but I guess this only add to it’s history and allure.
.) Hobbiton, Matamata (New Zealand) from The Lord of the Rings: Head on down and see if you can spot any hobbits!
.) Manhattan, New York (USA) from Sex and the City: This is more of an obvious choice (like you even needed more reasons to visit New York) but in New York, you can visit, not only Carrie’s house but the major haunts of the girls (and play a game to see how many you can spot).
.) West Sands Beach, St Andrews, Scotland (UK) from Chariots of Fire: It’s the movie with the epic Olympics song (also called Chariots of Fire) and a rather inspiring tale made better still by the fact that it was shot in the rather picturesque beach in St Andrews (which proved
.) Mondsee (Austria) from The Sound Of Music: Recognise the Collegiate Church from the wedding in the movie?
