Barbados is one of those Caribbean islands that most people have heard of, whether that’s for its rich Bajan culture, delicious food, pristine waters, friendly people or even just because of Rihanna 🙂
After spending my first day on the Island, it’s easy to see why so many people have an affinity to visit Barbados again and again.
After arriving in Barbados, I headed straight to my hotel. As soon as I arrived, the team at the hotel spoke about possibly swimming with turtles.
This was all I could think about once it was mentioned and I had to book my journey by boat immediately. I’m rarely an impatient person but I literally couldn’t wait until I was hopping on-board this boat.
After a short wait, a quick safety briefing and an insightful education into ecological preservation, I was on my way! Before the captain could even fully anchor the boat I jumped into the crystal clear, blue waters.
With my snorkel and GoPro in hand, I was ready to swim across the coast.
Within mere minutes of waiting, I had spotted my first sea turtle who seemed to glide through the ocean so effortlessly… unlike me, who seemed to prance through the ocean like a drunk duck. 😉
What surprised me most about these sea turtles is how friendly they are.
They seemed rarely scared or even bothered by my presence, which allowed me to get up close and personal with these beautiful and friendly animals. It was the most amazing experience ever!
