Wandering around Gdansk is understandably distracting (Reason 1 and Reason 2 are right here) and although we’d spotted where we were eventually going to have lunch hours before lunch, it wasn’t until I realised how much I needed to pee that I realised how hungry I was. 😂
I hurriedly dragged my motley crew of Lloyd, Georgia and Chris to go look for somewhere to address the former issue when we happened back on the doorway of Mono Kitchen in the Old Town of Gdansk.
The prices looked decent and the menu seemed interesting enough so we decided to take a chance and pop in for lunch.
We wasted no time in ordering prosecco, beers (for Chris) and a selection of cocktails…
Swiftly followed by our starters of beef tartare…
A hearty stew… (X 2)
… and grilled garlic prawns (for me).
Needless to say, I sampled everyone’s starter (strictly for research purposes of course 😉 ) and every single dish was absolutely delicious! Like it’s the kind of food that leaves you so pleased with yourself and your ability to make brilliant choices.
For mains, Chris and I went for the steaks (equally uh-mazing!) while Lloyd and Georgia went for the chicken. My ‘tasting research’ confirmed the chicken as well as the steak, were also pretty fantastic.
Well, that and the fact that all I could hear from everyone on the table was loud (and somewhat disconcerting) grunts of satisfaction all across the table.
The rave reviews from the starters and mains left me somewhat worried about dessert! “There was no possible way they could nail all the courses,” I thought to myself… Turns out, they can and did.
Dessert ended up being plate after plate of unbelievably delicious goodness and I’ve never been happier to have to make a restaurant choice, based on my pressing need to go for a wee. 🙂
The bill was pretty good too – I think it came round to £25-ish which is not bad at all for 3 courses, several proseccos, cocktails and Polish beers.
If you’re ever in Gdansk, I’d definitely recommend visiting them for lunch (or dinner) at: Piwna 28/30, Gdansk 80-831, Poland.
