Filled with heaps of things to see and do, Barcelona has quickly become one of my favourite cities in Europe. Its gorgeous sights, delicious food and the incredible Gaudi creations make this an incredible city to explore.
Just before we flew to the Maldives for a much-welcome indulgent holiday, I decided it would be fun to sneak in a short trip to Barcelona for a little pre-holiday holiday. 🙂
We’d been lucky enough to visit Barcelona twice before (trust me, that still doesn’t feel like enough visits to this city) and so flights sorted, I grabbed a mountain of luggage and jetted south for a weekend filled with vermouth, sangria and canelons Catalans *watches diet fly out of the window*. 🙂
Before we went, I knew we wanted an extra special treat!
You know, something that would start my holiday to the Maldives off in style and decided to check out El Palauet Living right in the heart of Barcelona.
Our flight from London landed around 8 pm, so it was pretty dark by the time we arrived but that didn’t stop me being blown away by how incredible this place was.
El Palauet Living, by the way, is smack in the city centre and is only a 5-minute jaunt away from Gaudi’s famous Casa Milà.
Straight away, I was instantly struck by the building’s incredible gothic architecture… it’s one of those places that really lends itself to the identity of the city.
You know, when you go to Venice you assume you’ll see lots of canals, in Las Vegas – slot machines… for me at least, when it comes to Barcelona I’ve kinda come to expect lots of beautiful architecture.
Unlike other hotels, El Palauet Living only has a few rooms (I think 5 in total) which made for an incredibly personal experience.
I felt like royalty – now that’s a feeling I can certainly get used to!
In truth, El Palauet Living doesn’t feel like a hotel at all and has certainly broken away from the same old hotel ‘rules’ that quite a few places follow.
For starters, there’s no check-in counter, and you’re warmly welcomed in one of the building’s grand rooms where you can sit, relax and enjoy.
Everything from your meals, massages and personal touches you want are all arranged by the team that is available 24 hours a day (we had two personal assistants during our stay here).
They’ll even bring food from the restaurants in the city and prepare it in your very own dining room (yes, you read that last part correctly… your own dining room!) 🙂
The whole team was particularly incredible at El Palauet Living.
It felt as though we’d been welcomed by friends that were genuinely excited to see us which is such a nice feeling to have when you arrive in a new place, which instantly settled me. Of course, my excitement for this hotel grew 10-fold once I arrived at the suite.
It’s very rare that I’m lost for words but when that door opened I had to pick my chin off the floor.
The suite, actually no, our 2-bed, 2 bathroom apartment was breathtaking!
I swear, I walked through our welcome tour with my mouth gaping open.
I think I ended up with 1,000s of photos of the suite!
I could write one long description of how beautiful the room is but photos are truly worth a thousand words so let me show you instead.
Take a look at how incredible El Palauet Living is below:
I had the most incredible stay in El Palauet Living… to the point that I struggled to leave.
I literally can not wait to return!
