The last couple of weeks have been a pretty manic flurry of activity across multiple cities, as you can probably tell from our Instagram posts (all the deets are on there so I won’t rehash them on here).
Even in the midst of all of this travel (there was one point where we were in 7 different cities in 7 days), there’s one city I just had to share with you and that city is Venice.
Venice is such a strange and unique city for me. I absolutely love the city – not in an ‘I’d love to live there’ kinda way like I do with Florence, Barcelona or Lisbon but more in a way I can’t fully place my finger on.
There’s just something about the city that makes me smile and totally captivates me and I just can’t quite figure out what it is.
I love all the history, yes. I love the architecture… and yes, I love the food. I love the tiny little streets and pizza shops tucked away in back alleys I wouldn’t usually think to wander down.
Thing is though, lots of cities have all this stuff (history, food, beautiful sights) so what is it about Venice that just feels ‘different’?
I still have no clue what that ‘one thing is’ but at the end of the day, even if I can’t seem to define what it is, Venice has an undeniable kinda magic that’s hard to find anywhere else in the world.
Trust me, I know how sickly-sweet that sounds (even as I was writing it – I was cringing) but it’s true.
There’s just something so utterly amazing about this place that’s hard to put into words and always best experienced in person.
With that in mind, and in lieu (or perhaps in advance) of your trip to Venice, I figured I’d share some photos from our recent return to Venice for all of one night.
