After an adrenaline-fueled afternoon paragliding from France to Switzerland, we figured the rest of our day might as well be spent chilling in Geneva and with that, we headed down to the lake for what is easily one of the most fun, chilled things to in Geneva.

See, down by the lake, there’s something of a beach club called Tropical Corner, and it’s just such a great spot to grab some drinks, soak up that sunshine, perhaps even grab a bit to eat and just watch the sunset over the city.

Still buzzing from our earlier experience, we decided to pick up some paddleboard and head out stand up paddleboarding across Lake Geneva.

Thankfully, despite the rain earlier that morning, this whole day in Geneva had proven to be surprising quite hot and sunny making the Lake the perfect spot to hang out.

Typically when I’m paddleboarding, I don’t know if it’s just my ego or something but I hate landing into the water and do my best to not fall off but the cool water here was just so inviting that even after just kicking back and relaxing with the cool water lapping away at my feet, I just had to jump in to make the most of Lake Geneva, it was absolutely brilliant.

We soon paddled back to shore, grabbed some beers from the bar picked a spot to take in the beautiful sunset over the lake.

Dinner that evening was something Lloyd had been looking to do long before we even got here – Fondue!

We picked a place not too far from our hotel, and went to town on that molten cheese! All that paddleboarding had worked up quite an appetite and I was here for it! 😀 There wasn’t a single bit of cheese left by the time we were done.

Chocolate fondant and crème brulee swiftly followed the fondue and with that, we decided it was time to call it a day.

Geneva had thus far proven to be more than what I’d initially anticipated.

I guess I was expecting chocolate, fancy shops and all sorts of other stuff – the adventure and more natural side to it was definitely not something I initially expected to find in the city.

The following day, we kicked things off a little slower. The rain from the previous day had come back in much fuller force and our plans for the morning kinda just went out of the window – which was fine by me, sometimes it’s nice to just lean into a more relaxed vibe on your travels.

Eventually, we made our way over to Birdie Food & Coffee for brunch and a caffeine fix…

Somehow our walk took us to the University, a gorgeous spot in the city and home to some rather stunning buildings…

…before making our way over to Treille Promenade, home to the longest wooden bench in the world (the bench is all well and good but you’re really up here for the view).

We then carried on toward the older part of Geneva…

…popping into État de Genève – Chancellerie d’État.

I actually got this name off Google maps – I know where it is as we just randomly wandered in off the street but have no clue what goes on here. It is a public space and is such a brilliant piece of architecture within the city.

It’s one of those places that I guess is a reminder of why it’s sometimes good to just throw your plans out of the window and ‘get lost’ in the city sometimes.

After faffing around here for a little bit, we figured it was time to properly check out the old part of Geneva, we were kinda already in anyway so, might as well!

Catch ya on that in the next post. 😀
