Our trip to Croatia was the very first international trip we’d taken in months (for obvious reasons) and it did feel a bit surreal to finally be travelling internationally again.

The airport was pretty quiet, the lounge the same but somehow our flight was pretty full.

Anyway, a few hours after, we landed in sunny Split.

The plan was to explore Split but we decided to leave that till the last and head over to the islands nearby instead. (Made more sense than trying to catch a boat from the islands on the day you need to catch your flight).

Brac was our chosen island and we just left the airport and headed straight to the ferry terminal where we picked up our pre-booked tickets and made our way over to Brac.

Now we would have driven but seeing as everyone wanted to be able to freely indulge in a tipple (and we had no real plans on straying too far on Brac), we decided to get a taxi to take us to Bol on Brac island.

But yeah, enough about logistics, all in all, we arrived in Bol sometime in the early evening and we arrived starving. We quickly checked in to the Hotel Vitar (we picked this one almost solely for the rooftop pool 😄😆 ) and headed straight out to Ranc Restaurant in Bol (based on a local recommendation) for dinner.

Many-a-pasta, calamari, wine and grappa later, we piled into bed, thoroughly exhausted but excitedly looking forward to exploring Brac island.

The next morning started with a lazy breakfast at the hotel before dousing ourselves in sunscreen and heading down to the famous Zlatni Rat beach.

I want to tell you we got up to some amazing adventure or did something ridiculously exciting but we just spend the next couple of hours just splashing around in the refreshing blue waters of Zlatni Rat and soaking up all of that Croatian sunshine.

We didn’t even move to get a drink! 😆😆😆

I’m not one to sun bathe (I get bored really quickly with it) but there was just something so lovely about being by the beach and actually being able to enjoy it properly after being cooped at home in London.

Eventually though, our tummies made it very clear that they were not on board with our plans of just soaking up the sunshine and cooling off in the sea and so off we went to find lunch and cocktails.

Typically, we would make an effort to find a place that we really liked for food but with this, we just decided to wing it and see what came up. (We did leave Zlatni Rat for this though – we were feeling lazy but we definitely knew better than to try to get food at a popular tourist hotspot).

We made our way to a quieter restaurant by the beach and ordered up several dishes of fresh salads, seafood and cocktails.

Again, such a simple moment but it felt so surreal to be eating out again and by the beach no less.

Done with lunch, we made our way over to another bar by the beach where we proceed to order in bottles of bubbly and lap up some more sunshine and beach time.

It’s perhaps one of the laziest days on holidays we’ve had in a long while and it was just perfect!

We did decide that day though that perhaps we should do some island hopping and with that, we locked in a boat to take us around the islands for the following day before heading back to our hotel to watch the sunset from our rooftop pool aperol spritz-in-hand.

For dinner, we went with another local recommendation, a restaurant further away from the busy centre of Bol but absolutely worth it.

It’s called Restoran Ribarska Kućica Bol and apparently serves up local Croatian food, which we decided to dive right into (of particular note is the Dalmatinska Pašticada which is kind of like a stewed beef dish with pasta).

With that, we decided to skip getting drinks in town and switch the rooftop pool for the rooftop hot-tub. It was the perfect way to finish off a lazy, indulgent day!

WANT MORE? 😁😁😁 See what we got up the next day, in this post here
