I’m literally writing this from my hotel room in St Kitts (not sure how pertinent that is but just felt like something I needed to say).

My intrigue with St Kitts actually started on a different Caribbean island, where over a lunch-time conversation with stranger-turned-new friends, I found out that St Kitts is actually, officially called St Christopher (which made me feel very vindicated because I’d never heard of St Christopher Island prior to that).

So you know how Jon Snow from Game of Thrones’ name is Kit Harrington? Well, as it turns out, Kit is the short form of Christopher (proof, is right here) and that’s how St Christopher became St Kitts!

Thing is though, back then, I didn’t know much about St Kitts (or how it was different from the other islands) but it always retained a sense of intrigue since it was one of the handful of Caribbean islands I kinda knew of. Over the years, I met more and more people who’d visited and absolutely loved it (it was a tad more off the beaten track as far as Caribbean islands were concerned).

Fast forward to a year (or almost 2) and we got asked if we would be interested in finding out more about St Kitts and potentially becoming ambassadors for the island. Easiest yes ever!

What made is so easy was not just how relatively small the island was or how easily the people I knew back home had made strong connections here but how diverse the island was! You think “Caribbean” and you think beaches and sunshine. St Kitts is all that and so much more!

This is an island where you can walk right up to the crater of a volcano (which is now dormant but has a lake in the middle), where turtles constantly come up to hatch, where you can constantly venture into the rainforest (without the fear of snakes, lions, hyenas, crocodiles or whatever else scares you about forests) and so much more!

As you can tell from instagram and a bit from Facebook (I really need to put up more photos on Facebook), we’ve spent the last week exploring St Kitts and absolutely falling in love with it! Genuinely so pleased we said yes to being ambassadors to this island and can’t wait to share proper blog posts and sooooooooooooo many more photos from this incredibly cute island!

(Random sidebar – I finally found out here why rum is a big deal in the Caribbean! It’s all to do with the leftovers from the sugar plantations).

Anyway, I best stop rambling – here are some of the photos from our time in St Kitts so far. We’ll have the full blog posts up in the coming weeks… Till then – cue photos!
