On a rather cold Sunday afternoon, I went off in search for a little something… Well three things actually and I figured the best place to find them was Borough Market. To be honest, I was just looking for an excuse to head to Borough Market. It is one of my favourite places to wander around in London and I jump at any chance I get to visit. But wait, I haven’t even told you what I was looking for – I was looking for 3 plants for glass hanging vases I found recently. I will show you the vases at some point when I have them all set up (and get round to showing photos inside my new flat) but they’re a bit hard to describe (or maybe I’m just terrible at describing simple stuff??? Who knows…)
The trip to Borough Market started innocently enough – perusing stalls with the different fruit and vegetables..
A random selfie – although photobombed by Lloyd!
So I felt sorry for him and asked him to join in the selfie! 🙂 (Or he took pity on me when I got weird looks by passersby as I was taking a selfie in a market…)
And then we happened on this stall with a hog roast! It took all of 2 seconds for me to decide I want one and find my way to the front of the queue!
The actual hog roasting away looked a bit gory but let’s skip that part…
Before long, the hog roast in a nice crusty ciabatta bread roll was served up! It was delicious!
I wolfed it down as fast as I could – Lloyd did the same but managed to get oil from it down his jeans! (Yes, it was that tasty!)
Next off, went in search of some mulled wine. Or any hot drink really…
We found the nice little warmed – hot cider! I usually opt for mulled wine over hot cider and so this was the first time I considered trying hot cider. The guy at the stalls convinced me to try it with a sip of it. I was hooked immediately and we both opted for large cups of hot cider. It’s surprisingly more like mulled wine than it is like cider that I’m used to.
Truffle smelling anyone?
I proceeded to wander around the market – warmed up by the hog rolls and hot cider…
Then I bumped into this guy! It’s Paddington the bear! I’m used to seeing him at Paddington station only so was quite surprised to find that he came to the market on the Sunday too! We stopped for a little chat…
I offered him some of my hot cider but he politely declined as he was in a hurry and so I bade him farewell and carried on perusing Borough Market…
Finally, I headed off home! Thorough sated, nicely warmed up and truly rejuvenated on this rather cold Sunday in London.
