Lots of people know about the larger islands of Europe: Great Britain, Ireland, Sicily and many more but there are many smaller (but no less breathtaking) islands that we often forget or bypass on our quest to visit while travelling around Europe. Some of the islands are “off the beaten track” so to speak, while others are more mainstream but what they do have in common is how beautiful they are and how amazing they are to visit!
This might be the geographer in me, but I do have to point out that some of the destinations are a group/archipelago of Islands but I have included these as one destination to make things more concise rather than have a ridiculously long list of small islands across Europe… 🙂
Without further ado, here are the small European islands that will inspire some travel lust and should definitely be on your travel radar!
- Santorini
- Ibiza
- Rügen
- Samos
- Skiathos
- Solta
- Formentera
- The Azores (Archipelago)
- Islay
- Mull
- Åland Islands
- Hinnøya (the Island is awesome, but the view from the Island of the surrounding landscape is breathtaking)
- Askøy Island
- Scilly Isles
- Clare Island
- Belle Ile En Mer
- Elba Island
- Gotland
- Porto Santo Island
- Faro Islands
There you have it! 🙂 Are there any other islands you would add to this list? If so, please do share!
