Firstly off, it’s a hotel… but not like any other you’ll have seen! Think of it as an artistic space, a demonstration and a reminder to us all of the bleak reality of what is a contentious situation. The hotel itself is a play on the ever so luxurious Waldorf Astoria… which has a much more opulent feel.

What can you expect inside?

Firstly, don’t imagine expect welcome drinks, hot towels and mid-day massage – the walled Off Hotel has been designed to showcase a situation that needs attention.

The rooms themselves only get about 25 minutes of direct sunlight a day! Each of the rooms comes equipped with an eclectic mix of style and panache that offers views over army watchtowers, the towering wall itself and some pretty amazing pieces of Banksy artwork – all designed to showcase the reality of the situation.

  • You can go out on the street and touch the wall. That sentence is ridiculous that you can only get as close as your window. Maybe try actually exploring the city? Bethlehem is amazing and shouldn’t be viewed only through a window. Also, it is possible to fly into Jordan come into the West Bank that way.

      Hi Allison,

Thanks for dropping by.. I wrote this post to show the idea behind what Banksy had in mind for an art installation. I think you may have interpreted my post the wrong way, my post is very specifically about the installation and not about the cities. Of course you can explore the city but my post is just about the art installation (not Bethlehem as a city), which I’m sure you can appreciate.

I never said it wasn’t possible to fly via Jordan, I just offered one option that is available without discounting other possible options so that interpretation is all on you and not based on anything I’ve said above.

      Thanks, Lloyd.

  • Ahhh my friend and I were just having a good chuckle about this but now I think I’m convinced that this should be THE nudge I need to finally visit Israel (it’s difficult for me and my Malaysian passport)! You boys up for it?! x
