As can be expected, as winter beckons (at least here in Europe and of course across the pond in America), more and more people are starting to plan things for 2015 but hang on just a minute – we’re still in 2014. There is still a month and a half left until the end of the year and there’s so much that you can still see and do this year! Cater to your more spontaneous side and make the most of “today” (today being everyday till the end of the year, of course).
Needless to say, as winter approaches, the last thing you feel like you need more of is cold weather (don’t worry I got you covered) so here are 10 places with amazing sunny weather that you can still visit in 2014…
.) Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania: Not only do you get your daily supply of sunshine here, you can also go on Safari in the Ngorongoro Crater! Immerse yourself in the natural habitat of fascinating wildlife and come back from you holiday, not only rested and relaxed but also educated – which no doubt you will after your Safari experience!
.) Marrakesh, Morocco: This city is the place to go for pure sensory overload. Sights, sounds, smells tastes, Marrakesh has it all! Especially, that last bit of winter sunshine (and a good vitamin D top up) that you desperate need over the winter months. Your money also goes a long way here and if you’re in Europe, it’s a relatively short flight so you have less and less reasons for not booking a trip to Marrakesh!
.) Cape Verde: The name always conjured up imagery of superheroes to me (must be the “Cape”) but this destination could not be further away from the hassle associated with super heroes (I don’t even know why I’m still going on about this super heroes thing). Cape Verde is a tiny little island off the coast of Senegal and is filled with friendly people! It is a fairly safe holiday destination with no shortage of sunshine (temperatures are pretty much 27°C/81°F all year round) and lots of stunning beaches and a vast array of delicious local food!
.) Key West, Florida, USA: A great summer holiday destination but an even better winter destination! With brilliant sunsets, stunning beaches, fairly constant warm weather and a certain fantastic dessert named after the city (the “Key Lime Pie”), you have an over abundance of reasons to drop what you’re doing right now and start booking your flights to Key West!
.) Phuket, Thailand: One of the most stunning places in the world, pretty much anywhere you visit is bound to leave you having to pick up your jaw when you happen upon some of the most stunning natural sight in the world. Thai people are also so friendly but I guess you would be too when surrounded by so much beauty! 🙂 The best part about Phuket is that it’s a holiday destination for everyone of all ages! You can chill out if you want to, get active and go exploring, party, enjoy family time… or whatever you want to do. There are people of all ages there and it is a must do if you get the chance to.
.) Pretty much anywhere in Australia: For most of the world, our winter, is Australia’s summer – even the “cold” Australian winter is like our summer in certain places in the UK (Scotland, I’m looking at you ;-)) so a trip to Australia is one that comes with a whole-hearted recommendation! It doesn’t even matter where you go, just go.
.) Patagonia, Argentina: The weather in Patagonia is pretty warm but around these times of the year, it gets even warmer – coupled with the fact that rainfall drops considerable so you can get in some sunshine when you visit. Personally, I am also intrigued because some people speak Welsh in Patagonia – I don’t speak a word of Welsh (okay, maybe I know a few words) but Lloyd does (like he’s REALLY good at it) and so it would be intriguing to visit a place where the main language isn’t English and yet still be able to communicate properly with the locals.
.) Singapore: Oh Singapore, if there’s one thing you can count on in Singapore, it’s the sweltering heat! The humidity (that age old enemy of people with potentially frizzy hair – though not a particular problem of mine) is pretty high in Singapore! But for all the heat, there so much stuff you can get up to in Singapore. It is definitely more of a city holiday that it is a beach holiday but Singapore is so much fun and not only a great place to visit, it’s also a fantastic place to live!
.) Mumbai, India: One of the gems in India, Mumbai is a cultural melting pot and a vibrant city that offers a wide offering of insight into Indian life. It’s an exciting city to visit and definitely one that meets the sunshine requirement!
.) Cancún, Mexico: Synonymous with being a party location, Cancun has so much more to offer than that! There are beautiful beaches and the opportunity to see some fantastic historical sights (albeit you might have to travel a couple hours to get there but there are tour buses that can sort that out for you at affordable prices). Cancun is also one of the safest places to visit in Mexico so you can head over and have yourself an amazing time soaking up those sun rays.
