We’re in Mexico right now (it’s the perfect balance of luxury, partying and cultural sightseeing) and it’s safe to say we’re very excited!
This trip has been a long time coming and seeing as it’s the first time either of us has visited this country, the excitement is probably understandable! 😉 🙂
I have to admit, I had so many pre-conceived notions of what a trip to Mexico would be.
Like yes, I imagined having lots of tequila (done and raring for more!), lots of sunshine (a fair and rather correct assumption). Plus, lots of delicious food (the food everywhere we’ve been to has been so delicious so far).
What I didn’t expect was how much I would fall in love with the country; and so quickly.
First off – nowhere else do hotels or resorts quite like Mexico!
I don’t want to compare destinations to each other but the hotel here in Cancun has proven to be rather exceptional on all fronts (especially the margarita front -which I now consider myself to be an expert on…. well not so much expert as a connoisseur… and not so much connoisseur as the local drunk asleep by the pool having had quite a few. 🙂
Then there’s the weather! Seriously, the blue skies are absolutely incredible and make for the most amazing photos! Not to mention how warm and sunny it is. I’m not one to sunbathe but even I can appreciate how delicious this sunshine is!
Today however was one of the major parts that sealed the deal for me and it’s all to do with the history of the country! It’s so fascinating (I’ve always been intrigued by ancient cultures) and the fact that there’s so much preserved history here is incredible.
Chichen Itza is a prime example. I’d seen it so much on Facebook and everywhere on the internet that I started to feel a bit like I’d been there already and as such, kinda took it for granted before visiting. As soon as we saw it today and started to learn more and more about it, I was a traveller turned fanatic! Well played Mexico!
I’m gonna do a proper series of blog posts on Mexico (as per usual) though there’s a lot on Snapchat from Chichen Itza today (our username is HandLugaggeOnly) – thankfully, this time, Snapchat saved it all so I could upload it once I got back to the resort and got proper internet access.
