Especially so if you’re visiting Barcelona to have a good time!
Taking in all the sights to see in Barcelona is so much fun but it’s also pretty hungry business and so, after a long and fulfilling day sightseeing with locals (and one filled many things Gaudi), all we (and our feet) wanted to do was rest, recharge and find our way to delicious food.
Cue the OMM Barcelona!
OMM is so much more than a hotel though – something we hadn’t quite realised when we first decided to add in into our Barcelona plans. 🙂
Sure, there’s the lovely hotel, rooftop pool and bar, easy walking distance to the main attractions (we’re talking less than 5 minutes walk before you bump into something built by Gaudi) but one of the best things about being in the OMM is that it pretty much comes complete with everything you need for a brilliant night in Barcelona.
See, OMM has it’s very own nightclub (popular with the fancy locals) deep down in the basement of the hotel (so don’t worry, you won’t be losing any sleep as you won’t hear a peep), it’s also got fantastic bars (upstairs by the pool and downstairs) and it’s even got a Michelin star restaurant in it.
Just think, you get home from a brilliant day of sightseeing, kick off your shoes and freshen up in the room upstairs, perhaps even pop into the pool (upstairs or downstair – doesn’t matter which) for a quick dip… but you’ve had your fair share of exercise after walking all over the city so you decided to pop over to the pool bar for a quick pre-dinner drink.
Then you take the elevator ‘all’ the way downstairs to the restaurant, eat to your heart’s content and perhaps sneak in a cheeky vino or two.
You then make your way over to the chilled out bar downstairs and enjoy a pre-club cocktail while listening to live music (again, won’t judge you if you decide to have 2… or 3… or 4…) before you head over to the club downstairs to put your dancing shoes through their paces!
The absolute BEST part of all of this is that, once you’re done for the night, you can just take the elevator right back up to your room and roll into your own bed with very minimal effort (and sans queuing/waiting for a taxi). Look, you did pretty well sightseeing today so you deserve to have the rest of the evening as convenient as possible! 🙂
Let’s take a little tour through Hotel OMM, shall we? Starting right at the top…
…and making our way through to the bedrooms.
*A bath fit for a king! Also, the perfect place for relaxing pre-dinner if you can’t be bothered to go to the pool. 🙂
Next up, the restaurant – a big reason you should head here, even if you’re not staying at the hotel.
That’s one of the chefs above, by the way – he’ll take real good care of you! 😉
Even if you decide to skip the restaurant, the Roca Bar has a pretty delightful offering.
Let’s start with the timbal of apple and foie with vanilla oil…
…before moving on to the Iberian ham croquettes
Then there’s the smoked wild Salmon “Carpier” marinated with gin tonic , vodka and beetroot and nori seaweed. *licks lips*
The steamed brioche with truffle…
Definitely a friend or two with you as this is tapas style and made for sharing!
Still hungry? Get onto the steak tartar “Joan Roca”…
… add on the Iberian suckling pig with orange and clove
…and the rice in coconut with prawns
Finish off with the chicken tandoori with basmati rice.
Dessert (my fave) comes in many forms – we went with the black chocolate coulant and stracciatella ice cream.
(*Remember the live music I told you about earlier?)
Enjoyed with assorted cheeses with ginger jam…
Apple pie with ginger ice cream…
…and quite a few glasses of wine!
Seriously, the food here is absolutely incredible! It was dish after dish of deliciousness and an experience I am very much looking forward to when we head back to Barcelona!
After food and drinks of course, you can head downstairs to the club. 🙂
Now can you see why this is pretty much a one-stop has it all for when you visit Barcelona?
