If you’re visiting the Big Apple, then you’ll want to make sure you see one of the current Broadway shows in New York. It’s the perfect way to spend an evening in New York or even an afternoon while visiting Manhattan.
Whenever we visit New York, we always book at least one Broadway performance for a new show we haven’t seen. Last time, it was Moulin Rouge! The Musical (which was incredible, by the way), next time we visit, I think we will rewatch & Juliet. The music is incredible.
Anyway, I’m rambling, but I wanted to share some of the current Broadway shows that you really shouldn’t miss once you arrive in New York. This way, you can book your tickets via the individual theatres and make sure to get the seats you want before even arriving in the city.
Trust me, we’ve tried to ‘wing it’ before and just turn up for late availability. Yes, you can get lucky; but we always find it better to book the best show, with the best seats, before arriving in the Big Apple. This way, there’s no stress on the day and you know you have your tickets in your pocket—or on your smartphone.
So, take a look at some of the current Broadway shows in New York that you won’t want to miss.
1.) Aladdin
Aladdin brings the undeniable magic of Disney to the Broadway stage. If you’re familiar with the story of Aladdin, then you’ll know it focuses on the love story between Aladdin and Princess Jasmine. It’s still one of my favourite shows on Broadway, even if Jafar is something of a terror!
Not only that, but the set is just mind-blowing. They’ve really brought the magic of the film to life, right down to the flying carpet…

3.) Chicago
Chicago has become something of an institution as the longest-running musical currently on Broadway; it’s an incredible show and a must-see.
Following the life of Roxie Hart in 1920s Chicago, the musical takes you on a journey of love, loathing and lust through showtunes that are so catchy.
Make sure to listen out for ‘All That Jazz’ and ‘Razzle Dazzle’. The songs are amazing.

Adapted from one of the most iconic films of the ‘80s, Back To The Future: The Musical takes you on a journey with Marty McFly and Doc Brown to find a way ‘back to the future’.
Now, I sometimes get worried that shows won’t live up to the film they’re based on, especially with a film as iconic as Back To The Future. Thankfully, this musical is totally fun, action-packed and so worth seeing.
Oh, and keep your eyes peeled for matinee performances as these tend to be a little cheaper than going at peak times.
