… and I’m not typically a burger person but more on that later. But before we get started, I’m gonna recommend that you honker down with a nice cuppa tea (or perhaps even a margarita) as this is a rather photo heavy post. 😉
One of my favourite parts of living in Central London is being within walking distance from some amazing sights so when my friends came visiting this weekend, we figured we might as well set off to explore London on foot!
Lloyd decided to try out his Columbia Turbodown jacket. The jacket has a mixture of synthetic material and goose down which explains why it’s so lightweight and yet still warm. I swear he wouldn’t shut up about how warm he was in it and how amazing the jacket is. Made me kinda jealous I didn’t have mine on…
The others wanted to check out the Moomin shop in Covent Garden (don’t ask why) and so that’s where we headed off to…
I know these street performers are always in Covent Garden and there mostly for the tourists but I couldn’t help but take a couple of photos. For some reason, no matter how many times I see them, I still find it fascinating that they’re hovering (I get how it works but that doesn’t stop the fascination actually, it just adds to it…)
I got distracted and got myself a new pair of jeans (which I can barely move in by the way)…
As you can imagine, all this walking, talking and shopping is hungry work and so we figured we’d stop for a bite (or two) at Five Guys. Now I know Five Guys is not new to a lot of people but boy are they good! There’s almost always a large queue there but it’s okay because the queue moves fairly quickly….
Look at Lloyd staring in lust at the food… and this is while we were still on the queue outside!
When you get in your get some free nuts to keep you distracted while you’re trying to figure out what to order. Now, here’s a bit of a heads up – the toppings are all free so have as many of them as you want! I always get everything except mushrooms (I know this isn’t a popular feeling but I generally can’t stand mushrooms, they taste like eating soil…bleurgh!)
You order your burger, watch them make it, wrap it and wait eagerly for them to call out your number! I may have had a few false starts when I though my order was ready…
I highly recommend getting the Cajun fries! They’re not so spicy that you can’t handle them (regardless of what your tolerance is for spices) and they’re so much nicer than plain salted fries!
Just look at that burger! Coming to Five Guys is the only time I am ever excited about burgers… and the portions are huge so I’m a very happy bunny whenever I pop into Five Guys… Plus, they have over 100+ flavours of drinks. Once we had a challenge to try as many flavours as possible. This was not a good idea on my part… But I digress! 🙂
Fed and watered, we made our way back home. By this point, London was shrouded in a cloud of darkness which meant that the city was even shinier than it was a couple of hours ago!
And boy was it busy too!
