Valencia has been on our travel-radar for many, many years.
After snoozing as soundly as sleeping beauty but snoring as loudly as a ‘Shrek’ style Ogre ;-), Yaya and I headed straight out for our first adventure of the day.
Sailing a yacht around the Mediterranean coast.
You can only imagine how excited this made me.! Our very own yacht! Okay, so obviously we didn’t get to keep the yacht, but I was jumping around like an excited puppy waiting to jump on board.
It was a sunny winter’s day, which coming from London you learn to appreciate with open arms!
Actually, I think us Brits learn to appreciate any kind of sunny day – temperature regardless! 😉
After a safety briefing, “don’t crash the boat into rocks”, “do steer away from the shore”…etc we headed out into the Mediterranean where I doled out countless amounts of ‘Aye aye captains’ and ergo, became a true sailor (or at least that’s what I’d like to think!)
You’ll be pleased to know that I didn’t once scrape, scratch or even dent the yacht.
Though, I’m sure Yaya expected me to!
After our sailing adventure, we headed straight to one of Spain’s most iconic architectural pieces after the beauty of Gaudí’s Work in Barcelona, the City of Arts & Sciences.
It’s quite surreal to actually see the buildings up close, they almost look like massive peaks in a meringue nest (yes, I have no shame in admitting that all architecture reminds me of food).
After scouring the grounds, we decided it was time to hop inside and see some of Santiago Calatrava and Félix Candela’s beautiful design up close.
From the outside, my favourite building has to be the L’Àgora – a vast covered plaza and L’Hemisfèric which stands proudly in the most magnificent sight.
One thing I’d mention is to possibly visit L’Hemisfèric at around dusk when the shadows cast by the sunset and the glimmering lights of the building create an unforgettable reflective vista that looks, unlike any other building I’ve ever seen.

We enjoyed every second in the city and are itching to visit again soon.
