Hey!!! So we’ve arrived in Luxembourg! (Can I hear a “Whoop! Whoop!!!“?) As you may have seen on our Instagram, Facebook or Twitter, we are already out and about exploring Luxembourg City, in the country of… you guessed it – Luxembourg! 🙂
Luxembourg lies between Belgium, France and Germany and, a little interesting fact I found out today, it is the world’s only Grand-Duchy – which means a country that is ruled by a Duke or Duchess (No ‘Kings’ or ‘Queens’ here). ? We’ve been having an amazing time so far and can’t wait to share our experiences with you! I’ll get right on this pretty soon!
So, for a while now, I have always wanted to visit Luxembourg. It has always been one of those countries that has been on my travel radar so I kinda surprised myself recently when I realised that I had still yet to visit Luxembourg! The city, after all, is only a 1 hour flight from London so I really have no excuses for not having visited sooner.
Luxembourg has always seemed so magical to me. It’s as if it is a country within a fairytale – beautiful scenery, amazing castles, quaint picturesque streets, history to literally jump head-over-heels for and of course great Luxembourgish cuisine. One of the most exciting things that peaked my interest has always been the old, UNESCO World Heritage part of the city. I have always looooved how beautiful the city looks and my excitement went into overdrive as we flew over the city! From the sky, the city is dramatically picturesque, I must have tried to take photos of the city about 50 times as we landed… I totally hogged the window (sorry Yaya… I will let you have the window seat on the return flight).
Luxembourg City is steeped on different levels, with the UNESCO World Heritage area of the old-city located across the main fortress. The city itself is relatively small in size, with about 100,000 people living here. Also, the city seems snuggled within the most beautiful countryside and parks. It feels like such a green, historic city… It’s going to be a struggle to leave! Actually, if anybody is looking for a guy to adopt to stay and eat lots of food and drink great coffee, I’m available! Or at least looking for an obligatory food-eater, hehe! 🙂
We are exploring so much of the city (and the rest of the country) over the coming days and we can’t wait to share all the amazing things we have seen, experienced and my very favourite – tasted! ?
Till then, here are a few photos I’ve taken so far…
