Long Weekend Diaries: Celebrations in Marbella, Spain (1)

My friend had been saying for months (almost a whole year actually) that she wanted to celebrate her birthday somewhere outside of the UK and as amazing as the idea was, the process of organising flights and accommodation for even 4 people is daunting to me at the best of times let alone organising for a large group of over 10 friends with different schedules and commitments.

Kudos to her though, when this girl sets her mind on something, she gets it done so it was no surprise when sure enough, when her birthday approached, we had flights and a villa booked for a long weekend in Marbella! This was such a fun weekend and a very indulgent one. Here is a quick rundown of the series of events upon arrival.

First things first, drop off all our stuff in the villa and head out to stock up on food and drinks…

Barbecue time! Lloyd was the self-proclaimed King of the barbecue!

Fridges stocked with drinks and even a nice salad prepared for the barbecue…

The next day, we went out for food in Puerto Banus…(I have very little photos of this! I blame wine.)

Got back home where a surprise treat awaited the birthday girl…

…and her guests of course! (Look at the food-lust in Lloyd’s eyes!)

We started on the birthday champagne and the rest of the evening is a blur! Okay, it isn’t a blur I remember it quite well but all the photos I took on my iPhone (who’s really gonna take a DSLR out on a night out) were quite blurry (and thankfully so from what I hear – hahaha! I jest!!).

The next day, it’s safe to say, that almost everyone who had a great night needed some much-needed sunshine and pool time (which was everyone), followed by a light lunch and dinner in a nice little restaurant later on.

With flights booked the next day and quite a few of us returning to work, we thought it best to have a quieter night. We also had flights to catch in the morning so this helped quite a lot the next day.

All in all, even though I can’t show you over half of the pictures, it was a truly great weekend away. Now I just need to convince her to celebrate her birthday every weekend.
