As far as Greek holidays go, it’s probably safe to say that the islands (and some of the bigger cities in-land) tend to get most of the attention.
Everyone wants (or has) that amazing photo of Santorini, Mykonos or Athens and very little spare a thought for some of the more rustic parts on the Greek mainland.
Having been to Greece a couple of times before and only ever sticking to the islands (or popular cities), I decided it was time to explore parts of Greece we seemed to have been missing out on.
Greece as a whole is a beautiful country and the people we’ve met are so friendly and laidback but if you want a truly local taste of Greece, one that’s not geared towards impressing tourists (not that there’s anything wrong with that, of course), then Western Greece is where you definitely should be headed!
No one is trying to impress you by changing their menu to English menus, activities you’ll find here are what the locals get up to and your experience of Greek life is something of a fantastic eye-opener.
Suffice to say, I will have the blog posts on this beautiful part of Greece on the blog very soon but seeing as I hadn’t even shared photos on here (I had done in Instagram, Facebook and twitter but nothing on here yet), I thought I might as well share some of the photos from our time in Western Greece.
*By the way, “Western Greece” isn’t the name of just one place – we just stuck to the West Coast and moved hotels to get to see so much more of this part of the country, hence why I’m referring to it all as Western Greece.
Once the full blog posts come on, I will be a lot more specific about where we visited, how we got there, where we stay, where (and what) we ate… you know, the good stuff any holiday-maker wants to know before visiting.
Until then, here are the photos!
