There Are 7 Types Of Travellers. What Kind Of Traveller Are You? (7)
Okay, let’s play a little game. There’s this little well-known theory (little well known because I just made it up) that most traveller fall into one of 5 categories and so today, for a little bit of pointless Saturday afternoon fun, we’re going to try to figure out which group you below to. The groups are:

There Are 7 Types Of Travellers. What Kind Of Traveller Are You? (4)
1.) The Holiday Makers: Typically found travelling around their mutually agreed work holiday schedules, these travellers tend not to be too worried about the destination as long as it’s different from their norm. They try to get away at least twice a year for long, indulgent holidays. They see travel as an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone – having a fun time while still getting to find new travel destinations.

2.) Functional Traveller: The archetypal Functional Traveller is your business traveller. Travel is a necessary means to an end and not an aim/goal in itself. They may sometimes get to fully immerse themselves in travel but on the whole, are typically either too consumed with their task/business/mail goal or too tired to really get the most out of the destinations they’re visiting.

3.) The Backpackers: They quite literally travel far and travel light. They refused to be burdened with convention and rules and indulge themselves in every opportunity available. A change to go skinny dipping at midnight? They’re in. Drinking an infusion of snake blood, frog venom rice wine (another thing I just made up). They’re in. Ironically enough, as much as they hate sticking to any convention and like to be seen more as free spirits, they’re very easily identified by the tool that gives them the flexibility while providing them with their daily comforts – their backpacks!

4.) The Thrill Seekers: Adrenaline junkies and dare devils. Travel far and wide to find the world’s highest bungee jump, the world’s tallest mountain (which they then proceed to climb) and pretty much anything extreme and perhaps previously unheard off. You will not find these people on a beach in St Barths or checking out the infinity pool at the hotel.

5.) The Gap Year’ers: You would expect to find the backpackers here but this group is filled with not just backpackers but people who decide to head off to a new destination with the intention of staying in said destination for a long period of time. They are more defined by their plan to spend as much time away from their home as possible and less concerned about how this happens – backpack or fully packed suitcase, doesn’t matter – as long as they’re experiencing something entirely different and perhaps even learning a new language at the same time too!

6.) The Frequent Weekenders They defy the rules of “The Holiday Makers” and go away at every single opportunity available (which typically presents itself outside of the working week). They are financial stable/comfortable and understand that the price they pay for this financial stability is that they can only truly indulge their passion for travel on weekends and bank holidays. They still get to see as much of the world as they want and aim to make every moment count!

7.) The Groupies: Typically found travelling in packs, this group is filled with individuals who are the life and soul of the party wherever they go. They may travel in groups (and indeed prefer to) but they won’t be limited by that and will go solo whenever they feel like. This group of travellers make the most of every holiday as they’re usually someone in the group to goad the others into enjoying a diverse range of experiences on their travels.

And there you have it! Some people might fit singularly into one category, some people might see version of themselves in several categories. My question to you is – which one(s) are you?!
