This is going to be a pretty brief post, in large part because you can’t really take photos inside so there’s not much I can show you from Linderhof Palace.
What I will say though is that it is absolutely worth a visit as this is the one palace that King Ludwig II got to actually finish.
The interiors are a lot like his other palace here in how beautiful and intricate it is although Linderhof Palace is a lot smaller than that one. It is thoroughly fascinating inside.
After you’ve been inside the palace, you can (and really should) spend time outside in the palace grounds and garden – they’re pretty amazing in and of themselves!
Scale the stairs to the very top for an amazing view of not just Linderhof palace but the surrounding Bavarian countryside. It’s quite the visual feast.
Due to its relatively small size, this ended up being a castle we didn’t spend too much time in (I think we must have been here for like a bit over an hour) but to be fair we didn’t go explore ALL of the grounds.
There are so many little buildings, gardens and structures dotted all across and going to see all of those would have taken hours (which we didn’t have as we had a flight to catch later that afternoon and another amazing castle – perhaps the most famous one in all of Germany) that we just had to visit.
Eventually (once we’d gotten our fill of the beauty that is Linderhof Palace), we hopped back into the car, weaving past beautiful lakes and stunning mountains in search of very next castle in Germany – Neuschwanstein Castle.
We actually ended up going through Austria for a little bit before popping back into Germany and making our way over to Schloss Neuschwanstein.
