Leaving El Nido, we decided to go for a “different experience” in the Philippines.
Well, not so much a “different experience“, as much as a different island.
In our prosecco-induced booking haze, we kinda already knew Bohol was a great place to visit in the Philippines (as well as Siargao – which is a lot more rustic – but that was way too far from El Nido and was quickly nixed from our plans… well, until next time at least) and seeing as we decided to skip Coron (also another gem) we figured we might as well head over to Bohol.
What we kinda didn’t expect was that while El Nido was more island-hopping and beautiful beaches, Bohol is a bit more “jungle-y / forest-y”. Like, if you’re up for a decent rainforest adventure, Bohol is the place to go.
Unwittingly and, to be perfectly honest, not really caring as long as the sun was shining, we decided to book a hotel on the island of Panglao (still part of Bohol but connected by a bridge).
Our booking process was also the most straightforward and most vapid thing ever – we filtered for the highest ranked place with the highest number of stars on Panglao island and went for the first (and only) place available (at the time of our booking).
Anyway, enough background. This post is supposed to be pretty short and just sharing photos with you from Bohol so I’ll just get straight to the point (albeit after much meandering).
Bohol is gorgeous and if you do decide you want to go island hopping, you’ll be perfectly fine here too! It’s one of the best places to be based for snorkelling (if you head to islands around it) – especially if you wanna see sea turtles… plus, there’s a fair bit on the island to keep you entertained in between snoozy sessions by the pool (or on the beach – the choice is yours really ).
We absolutely loved Bohol but enough about that! Here are the photos from our time in Bohol!
