Paris is a totally beautiful city to visit to visit with loved ones. It’s known the world over as one of the most romantic cities. With quaint markets, loads of free places to see and things to do in Paris for couples; you’ll end up being spoilt for choice.
Though, with all that choice comes some hefty dilemmas. How do you plan all the things to do in Paris on your trip? After all, you want it to be really special and a trip where memories are made.
So, to help you get the most out of your trip together, I’m jotting down some of the romantic things to do in Paris for couples. You’re going to have the best time in France.
1.) Eiffel Tower
Let’s start with one spot you have to visit in Paris. The Eiffel Tower.
Plus, queuing for hours isn’t fun if you just rock up on the day. It really takes the magic out of the experience.
For another romantic experience, book this totally special Eiffel Tower lunch that’s within the tower itself. It’s so incredible and one of those experiences you won’t ever forget.
2.) Notre Dame Cathedral
Impressive and rightly so! Seeing the Notre Dame Cathedral is one of the best things to do in Paris for couples.
Tragically, the fire has closed the cathedral in recent years but it’s still a beautiful area to walk around and admire the building itself.
Afterwards, make sure to book these Moulin Rouge Cabaret tickets. It’s world known and for very good reason. It’s sensational. Just like the Eiffel Tower, these tickets sell out fast. Book before arriving in Paris and plan ahead.
3.) Sacré-Cœur Basilica
Your time in Paris will likely be spent in the centre of the city. That being said, you can easily visit other neighbourhoods like Montmartre and visit Sacré-Cœur which stands proudly overlooking Paris.
Now, you will probably need to take the metro to this one (it’s only a short ride!) but this is worth taking that diversion to experience.
You see, Sacré-Cœur is an amazing Parisian landmark located at the highest point of the city. The views over Paris are amazing from here so it might be worth visiting just before sunset. It’s so romantic to see the sunset over Paris.
4.) The Louvre
Arguably the most visited art museum in the world, The Louvre is famed for having some of the most impressive and famous pieces of art in the world.
It’s one of the best things to do in Paris for couples, especially as the art is so iconic. I mean, you’ll even get to see The Mona Lisa.
Don’t forget, if you’re between 18 – 25 and an EU citizen) you can get free entry to The Louvre.
That being said, if you’re an international visitor, make sure to book these skip-the-line Louvre tickets in advance. Like most things in Paris, queues can form quickly and it makes sense to get your tickets before you arrive.
Oh, and don’t forget to exit (or enter) via Jardin Des Tuileries.
5.) Jardin du Luxembourg
Beautiful palatial gardens set around the Luxembourg Palace, the Jardin (i.e. Garden) is absolutely stunning and full of colour.
It is one of the largest public parks in Paris and dare I say, one of the nicest.
Plus, you’ve got the Palais du Luxembourg to see and experience. It’s a former royal palace and one of the best things to do in Paris for couples that want a stroll around the city.
Getting peckish? Head over to nearby Les Deux Magots. It’s an iconic cafe that opened back in the 1800s and still going strong. Their hot chocolate is so good.
6.) Arc de Triomphe
Paris is such a walkable city. That’s what makes it great, especially on a nice sunny day with a loved one.
Take a stroll down the Champs-Élysées and make your way down to the Arc de Triomphe, taking a break in between the walk for a little spot of shopping. Of course, you’re going to stop off at Ladurée for their famous macarons. Go for the lemon flavour, they’re so tasty.
7.) Try Some Parisian Cuisine
Doesn’t matter what food or even where (okay it does but your taste buds and preference should decide that for you, not me or any guide) but just make sure you try some authentic Parisian food.
Paris is world renowned for having some of the best food and this is a reputation that is rightly so.
Plus, it’s one of the best things to do in Paris for couples; you can literally eat your way around the city.
Now, I’m typically a bit hap-hazard when it comes to planning for food and I like to venture out and stop at places where the food and ambience are good.
Make sure to grab a table at Le Saint-Regis for their steak and frites. Also, head to Café de Flore if you’re fancying some good coffee and a famous spot in Paris to experience.
For a gorgeous dinner (which I loved), head to the beautiful, Le Train Bleu. The restaurant is so grand and beautiful. Plus, the food is just so good. Tables do go quickly, so book before arriving in Paris.
8.) Experience the nightlife
The nightlife is amazing in Paris so ensure you take in some part of it. You may not be up to a full club night but try to stop for a glass of wine (or two or three…).
We totally love the Le Marais area of Paris for nightlife, cool bars, quaint little cafes and lots of fun. It really is one of the best things to do in Paris for couples for an evening out in town.
Want a glass of wine in a cosy setting? Head over the river to Chez Georges. It’s totally traditional and serves up some local wines in a rustic cellar-type vibe. We loved it.
9.) River Cruise
One of the best things to do in Paris for couples has to be a river cruise. It’s one gorgeous way to explore the city and is totally romantic, too.
If you’re short on time, book this one-hour Paris river cruise that’s so worth it. You get to see the main sights, including the Eiffel Tower and it’s such a nice way to spend an afternoon.
Just be sure to book your cruise tickets in advance. Spaces can fill up fast.
To make things extra special, book this romantic dinner cruise in Paris. You’ll get to see the sights of Paris, all whilst enjoying some local cuisine. It’s so lovely.
