After seeing the magnificent Puente Nuevo bridge, (especially coupled with that uphill walk), all I could think about was lunch! (Yes, even before carrying on with exploring the rest of the city).

As it turns out, lunch was quite an unremarkable affair so I’ll just skip past that one, and instead take you on a little walk around Ronda. 🙂

We started off pretty much just wandering around the cobbled streets of the old town, making our way slowly towards the New Town and to Plaza de Toros de Ronda.

Plaza de Toros de Ronda is an old arena (over 200 years old) and is a mix of Spanish and Arabesque architecture (albeit the latter is slightly less obvious).

There was barely anyone around when we visited, save for some kids taking riding lessons which meant we pretty much had the entire arena to ourselves!

After striking a ridiculous number of poses (don’t ask), we eventually headed out in search of more of what Ronda has to offer.

Ronda is the perfect Spanish city for a more laid-back vacation. It’s fairly easy to see the bulk of the city over a weekend (a long one, if you must) and the rest of your time can just be spent relaxing and rejuvenating, which in my opinion is what holidays are truly for. 😉

There are elements of its Moorish history (Muslims from North Africa and the European islands between Europe mainland and Africa), dotted around the city, which is always quite interesting to see as it means the architecture is unlike other places in Europe.

Eventually, we made our way slowly back to the hotel (popping out briefly for dinner) and making the most of that no-limits drinks policy back at the hotel.

The next day, in what turned out to be quite the last minute decision, we decided to make the most of the day (we would be leaving for the UK later that evening) and head over to see a sight I’ve always wanted to see – The Alhambra!

Thing is, you’ve got to book tickets to visit in advance but I thought we might as well risk it and see if we could get in! Talk about a tense almost 2 hour ride over – but more on that in another post…

Before we left though we headed down to the valley to see the bridge one last time and bid farewell to Ronda properly!
