These Fjords are UNESCO World Heritage sites for a reason!!!
I have so much yet to tell you about our trip to Norway but I’ve been wanting to show you photos from when we saw the Fjords for so long now that I just couldn’t hold out any longer! The train ride to Flam is one of the most impressive in the world and even though it’s got fairly comfy seats, my guess is that you’ll probably spend most of the journey on your feet anyway as you’ll wanna see as much as possible (and photograph as much as possible). I will share photos from that too once I get round to editing them – that’s the downside of such a beautiful trip, you end up taking waaaaaay too many photos! 😉 Hahaha! I say downside but I secretly love it – looking through the photos is like being on holiday again.
Right so we arrived in Flam, right at the base of the Sognefjord, and went straight to our hotel to check in. We stayed at the Fretheim hotel which is lovely and ideal for a nice getaway! The food there’s pretty good (as we go to find out later at dinner and at breakfast the next day).
Our itinerary was pretty packed so rushed off to hurriedly chucked our stuff into the room but once we got to the rooms, we kinda got distracted by the amazing views from the rooms and ended up having to pretty much hot foot it to the Flam visitor centre where we would be getting a ride to get an amazing view of the Fjords…
A quick ride and soon enough, we were at Stegastein, the ideal viewing point for the amazing Sognefjord!
I mean, how stunning is that landscape – the Fjords are absolutely fantastic to see in person and I kept having those “I can’t believe I’m actually here doing this!” moments from up here. Again, the Fjords are one of those places I’d seen on Pinterest quite a lot so and always wanted to see so there was a lot of anticipation, huge expectations and a whole lotta hype around them – needless to say, they surpassed all expectations and absolutely amazed not just me but everyone else too!
Of course, the selfies then needed to happen!
Along with the classic jumping photos…
We then figured since we were up at the top (which was pretty high actually), that we might as well check out the surrounds…
Nothing compared to the Fjords of course so were soon back at the Fjords gazing in awe. Finally, we figured we might as well attempt the big one – a group jumping shot! Taking a group photo is hard enough (everyone’s everywhere trying to get the best photos from all kinds of angles) but taking a group jumping shot was even harder. It was honestly like herding cats… We attempted several. None ended up quite right. Which is okay I guess, between all of these, we ‘technically’ have one good group photo! 🙂
We made our way back to Flam but stopped half way through for another gander at the Fjords with a slightly different view perspective.
How stunning are the Fjords? And people actually get to call this place home too! Imagine waking up everyday to these amazing sights. Norwegians are truly blessed with so many stunning natural sights than you can take in for free with no admissions or entry price… Jammy buggers! 😉 🙂 🙂
