A drive across the Cape Peninsula is one thing that was recommended to us time and time again by pretty much everyone we met in Cape Town so seeing as we had a car, we figured we might as well make the most of it and explore the route.
I have to say, the route does live up to the hype. Especially around sunset.
The crashing waves, fiery red rocks and white sandy beaches definitely make for a rather interesting contrast…
… not to mention the jagged mountains zig-zagging across this country drive.
It truly is one of those places you’ll want to stop and soak it all in.
The scenery changes as you make your way along the route…
When we visited, a huge part of the route was closed off (it would be opened the next day but we’d already booked another tour for the next day) and so we didn’t get to see half as much stuff as we would have loved to (especially watching the sunset at Camps Bay) but even with the limited part of the route opened, it was very easy to fall in love with South Africa’s stunning natural beauty.
