I’ve got a real soft spot for Singapore, not just because it was ‘home’ for six months but because it’s a much more diverse, culturally rich and cooler city than most people think.
Of course, you’ve got the glitzy marina, the amazing glossy buildings but there is so much more to Singapore, with unique experiences that I hope you’ll enjoy.
From the bustling streets of Little India, China Town, gorgeous Buddhist Temples, Lazarus Island and the tropical forests in MacRitchie Park, there are some incredible things to do in Singapore.
One other thing that Singapore is not lacking in is places to rest your head. There seems to be a new hotel springing up every week in Singapore, which makes it hard to choose the right place for you.
Take a look at some of my very favourite hotels in Singapore below.
1.) Marina Bay Sands
One of the most iconic hotels, Marina Bay Sands is one of the coolest places to stay in Singapore. Not just because of its marina location but because of its record-breaking infinity pool on the roof!
During my 6 months living in Singapore, I had to take a staycation in Marina Bay Sands, the rooftop pool is so surreal and an amazing place to unwind after a day exploring in the muggy heat. ☀️
2.) New Majestic Hotel
Just a few minutes walk from China Town, the New Majestic Hotel is a stone’s throw from all the hustle and bustle of China Town itself.
Don’t forget to try some of the street food from the many stalls and markets, where you can even buy some of the unbelievably smelly, Durian Fruit. 🍈
3.) Hotel Fort Canning
Perched right next to the National Museum of Singapore, Hotel Fort Canning is the perfect 5-star boutique hotel to enjoy the main sights in Singapore. Head here for a truly decadent experience. ✨
4.) Wanderlust Hotel
Perched in Little India, this oasis of calm is the perfect little retreat from the bustling Dickson Street. Little India comes alive at night with some of the best Indian and Bangladeshi restaurants.
This quirky hotel is filled with all types of retro memorabilia and the perfect place for any type of traveller. 🛄
5.) The Sultan
Quite a bit different from the shiny towers of new Singapore, The Sultan is housed within some of the cities older colonial-style houses that line the streets.
The Sultan is only a feel minutes from the metro station and walking distance (20 minutes) to the Gardens by the Bay. 🌴
6.) Hotel Vagabond
The Hotel Vagabond is a pretty chic hotel that is perched a few minutes walk off Victoria Street. Head here if you want a little pampering, gorgeous rooms and something a little different from the big chain hotels.
7.) M Social Hotel
I decided to stay at the M Social Hotel on my very last day in Singapore – which was well worth it.
I loved the fact that the rooms are split-level, it almost feels as though you’re staying in your own little apartment. Based in the River Valley area of Singapore, it’s ideally located for Clarke Quay where you can grab yourself some chilli crab from Jumbos.
8.) Lloyd’s Inn
Not just my namesake, the Lloyd’s Inn is a minimalist dream, just off River Valley Road and close to the shopping district of Orchard.
If you’re looking for a more relaxed affair, head over to Fort Canning Park, just a few minutes from the hotel itself.
9.) The South Beach
The luxurious hotel is one glossy place to stay, especially if you love designer hotels and chic hotel rooms. Less than 2km from the Marina it’s one incredible place to stay. Plus, it has one epic Gin Bar, too! 🍸
10.) Klapsons Boutique Hotel
Just a five-minute walk, or so, from Chinatown, the Klapsons Boutique Hotel is within easy reach of some of the best sites like Tanjong Pagar and Buddha Tooth Relic Temple.
The rooms are airy, bright, with the Orb Reception being out of this world! Housed onto of the hotel is the Fabrika Rooftop bar that serves some tasty cocktails. 🍹
