Now, as the Kurumba has a lot of choice on offer and we had very limited time to sample all the choices, we had a greedy modern take on dinner.
How? By having starters in one restaurant, mains from another and dessert for a third!
Even with that though (and lunch from an entirely different restaurant), we still didn’t get round to trying all the restaurants available at the Kurumba! (Don’t believe me? Check out all the choices of restaurants here – some of which I didn’t even know about while we were there!)
Dinner started with a delicious South African white…
…followed by a selection of Mediterranean delicacies!
…after which we ‘moved over’ to Asia for our mains.
Dessert however was at a different restaurants (and definitely one of the fanciest ones on the island) – Thila.
That restaurant below is Hamakaze, the Japanese restaurant (with amazing Teppanyaki).
We promptly took our seats…
…while the in-house sommelier saw to the perfect dessert-wine pairing.
… and we promptly stuffed our faces in all sorts of sweet delicious goodness!!!
It’s safe to say, by the time we were done with dinner. We were well and truly stuffed!!!
This of course didn’t stop me from heading to the bar area. The cocktails weren’t gonna drink themselves after all!
In keeping with the Kurumba theme, I plumped for a coconut cocktail – sweet and rather refreshing which went down well with the laid back live music in the background.
I slept rather soundly that night but woke up right on time for that famous Kurumba breakfast! 🙂
We headed back to Thila for breakfast and after my indulgent night the night before, I decided to go for a healthier breakfast…
… or at least healthy enough! It’s not my fault there was champagne with breakfast. We’ve already spoken about how I can’t say no to bubble – no matter what time of the day it is! (I do feel like I could do this more though – champagne breakfasts are the best!).
Between the fruits and pastries, I decided to also have salmon, avocado and eggs. In for a penny, in for a pound. 😉
Breakfast was followed by a guided snorkelling tour (available for free) around the island. (Don’t worry, I waited for breakfast to settle before going snorkelling).
Our guide by the way, is pretty epic at this whole snorkelling thing! (He’s even swam with whale sharks).
The house reef here is teeming with wildlife and even had some we hadn’t seen so far during our time in the Maldives.
I went with the lazy option again…
It’s hard to tell but in the photo below, there’s a 6 ft shark, circling some prey.
We found a little dock area where it turns out, the coral and fish seem to love!
We also saw some yellow tail clownfish!
We decided to spend the rest of the afternoon by the pool, sometimes switching to the beach, but always armed with cocktails.
At some point, we also had lunch too… 🙂
…before making making our way back to the villas to pick up our stuff, say farewell to the amazing people we’d met at the Kurumba so far.
…and head for the airport! This would be our final day in the Maldives (until we return again – which we actually did a week later) but this trip was not only one that felt much needed (and much enjoyed) but one that showed us the true diversity on offer in the Maldives and some of the top experiences worth having here!
We made our way to the airport even much more in love with the Maldives than we were originally but fret not, adventures awaited us in Sri Lanka where we would be flying to that very evening!
More on this very soon. 🙂
