There’s just so much more to Ibiza than partying. Alas, most people never seem to realise this until they visit the beautiful island of Ibiza for the first time on holiday themselves.

When my friends and I booked a trip to Ibiza – which happened to coincide with my birthday and Ibiza’s reputation as a party destination was the only thing that came to mind before we left.

Almost as soon as we arrived, I quickly realised that it was so much more than just that.

First off, it is actually quite a stunningly beautiful island with amazing vista and so much history that tends to get skipped by revellers.

Don’t get me wrong, it was my birthday so I definitely planned on doing some ‘revelling’ however, outside of this there is much else to see and do.

The beaches are pristine, the food is amazing and the weather is variable but fantastic at the right time of the year.

These are the other reasons why you really need to visit Ibiza

It’s an island so flying in is the pretty obvious option.

Which 5 Places In Ibiza Would You Choose?

You can stay in San Antonio or Ibiza town if you really wanna hit the nightlife, however, if you want to get the best of both worlds, it makes sense to do either one or two of the following:

1.) Stay somewhere close to the main destinations (i.e. a short taxi ride away) but not smack in the centre. All that partying when you’re nursing a hangover, just trying to relax or essentially doing anything alcohol-free can be a bit much.

2.) Arrive slightly out of season. This is probably the better of the two as Ibiza is still buzzing – albeit with a more diverse crowd from all across Europe, however, the nights out aren’t quite as ridiculously expensive.

1.) Party! It has to be done! You need to party till just before sunrise and walk down to the beach to watch the sunrise. Then and only then are you allowed to call your night a success and go home. 🙂 (We did this on 4 hours sleep from the night before since we had an early flight so trust me, it can be done!) A night out in Pacha is definitely recommended.

2.) Eat some paella (or similarly authentic Spanish dishes) – let’s face it you’ll probably need it after that night out.

3.) Go to the beaches – where possible. Ask for beaches that are not in the main party towns – you’ll truly get a sense of how amazing Ibiza is if you do.

4.) Take a tour of the old town.

5.) Walk down by the harbour.

1.) Nights out are expensive! Might make sense to do some drinking before you arrive to keep costs a tad low(er). Also, when we went to Pacha, it turns out you get a free drink with your entry fee – with drinks as high as €8-12, this is definitely worth paying attention to. We didn’t realise till the next day that we’d missed out on our ‘free’ drinks.

2.) As with a lot of beaches in Europe, most beaches here are topless. Most people know to expect this but just thought to mention it for the more conservative folk out there.

3.) Visit Formentera!
