After marvelling at those beautiful autumn colours on the ground at Sacacomie, we decided to take in the beauty of autumn in Quebec from a novel perspective – from a helicopter.
We’d booked in for just after noon which was plenty of time to get ready and head across to Pourvoirie du Lac Blanc as it’s just over 30 minutes away from Sacacomie.
Without skipping a beat, we parked up at Pourvoirie du Lac Blanc and hopped right into our helicopter almost straight away.
The view from up here, by the way, is absolutely beautiful! The sheer scale of the forest here is already quite impressive to see so when you throw in those gorgeous autumn colours, It’s just an absolute wonder of nature.
In some ways, it reminds me of a bouquet of flowers and to be honest, felt slightly surreal to think that each patch of colour was actually a huge tree.
And so off we went, taking in the full display of autumnal beauty from what is easily one of the best viewpoints in all of Quebec. 😀
Back on land, we headed straight for the restaurant here for lunch (I was starving by this point), before going for a little jaunt around Pourvoirie du Lac Blanc…
When you’re here you really get the chance to just step out and just immerse yourself in nature and I’ve gotta admit, it was kinda distracting (in the best way possible, of course).
There was just such a stillness to the air that went down a treat with those views and ultimately meant that were ended up leaving Pourvoirie du Lac Blanc a lot later than we initially planned.
Thankfully, we had no proper plans for the rest of the day – save for a drive to our next stop; Auberge du Lac Taureau.
Arriving in Auberge du Lac Taureau, I was so grateful we’d made the most of the outdoor time at Pourvoirie du Lac Blanc as it started raining cats and dogs almost as soon as we arrived. The kind of rainfall that just makes for the perfect excuse to just stay nice and cosy inside, with the occasional distraction to go for a relaxing dip in the indoor pool (the outdoor pool is also heated by the way).
Doing a whole lot of nothing turned out to be hungry work and dinner here went down a treat!
We started with arancini, charcuterie and soups…
…cleansed our palates
…before tucking into fish and steaks for mains.
It was one of those meals where you ended up surprising yourself at how hungry you actually were.
Dessert came in the form of a chocolate brownie situation with brandy snaps and ice cream. I’m actually obsessed with brandy snaps – I used to buy a pack of them (which people would normally use as a garnish of sorts on ice cream and sweet desserts) and wolf through the entire pack in one sitting. I’m hungry now just thinking about it…
The next day, we woke up to some gloomy weather, leftover from the rain the day before and; deciding to ignore that, hopped on a boat (booked at the Auberge du Lac Taureau) for a relacing jaunt around Taureau Lake.
When you’re here, you can actually do a lot around the Lake – you can even get a plane from the Auberge to take you on a scenic flight around the lake.
We, however, had something of a ‘first’ planned later on and so on hopping out of the boat, went to indulge in Lloyd’s obsession with poutine and mine with buffalo wings (I actually ended up getting barbeque wings instead – close enough. 😀 ).
And yes, the spaghetti Bolognese was mine too. 😀
With that, we said farewell to the Auberge and made our way through Quebec to a spot where we would be partaking in the ‘first’, I mentioned earlier on.
