Carcassonne is one of those places I’d literally never heard of until just before we booked flights to.
My friends and I were looking for a very long weekend getaway (as we do several times a year) and pretty much just scanned the internet for reasonably priced flights going anywhere. Carcassonne popped up as one of those options and after much “Mmmm…“ing and “Aaaah…“ing, we decided to just go for it.
That’s the thing – with my friends, we would literally have fun anywhere, even if it were just in each other’s living rooms in London!
This, by the way, is in large part how we travelled as much as we did when working full-time, we were always open for an adventure going anywhere and would pretty much book flights to anywhere in the world if the prices were right for the dates we were interested in.
It’s so liberating to not be fixed to a singular (or single set of) holiday destination ideas (also rather wallet friendly while having the best kind of experiences) and really does mean you get to explore and experience places you’d never even think of (we’ve found many a hidden gem this way at pretty record-breaking prices to – cheapest so far is still that £8 return ticket to Gothenburg, Sweden from London).
Anyway, long story short, we booked flights to Carcassonne for all 4 of us and found an amazing Chateaux on Airbnb (which had far more rooms than we all needed) and the perfect pool for our getaway.
Spoiler alert, we loved every moment here. We squeezed in a bit of sightseeing and a lot of wine-drinking (poolside and in vineyards – deets to follow very soon).
I will have the full details on everything very soon – I just wanted to share the photos with you on here for now. (I just realised I hadn’t even as much as mentioned it yet on here – only on Instagram).
