Despite having an amazing time just relaxing on the most amazing white sandy beach, we very eagerly hurried away from the beach and headed straight for the dock at the Angsana Ihuru Maldives.
Why? Well we had a sunset cruise booked and this was definitely one I’d been looking forward to and had no plans to miss!
We were the only guests on this huge catamaran as we sailed off to watch the sun set (told ya the Angsana Ihuru is all about an intimate Maldivian experience) which I have to admit, was definitely something of a first for me.
Almost as soon as we left, the champagne popped and our glasses remained almost magically filled through-out.
I’m very aware of how this sounds but I just couldn’t get over the fact that it was real champagne. Not prosecco. Not fizzy white wine. Proper champagne. Not that I have anything against prosecco of course but there’s just something extra special about having real champagne on a champagne sunset cruise.
I settled very quickly into one of my favourite Maldives past times – watching the sunset with a drink in hand.
And as though that wasn’t enough – a selection of delicious treat appeared seemingly out of nowhere (I certainly didn’t see them when I got on) and at that moment, I may have let out an unexpected squeal of excitement! Seriously, it was a proper embarrassing high pitched squeal. Or it would have been embarrassing if I wasn’t already starting to get covered in my champagne haze.
Ah! That’s how the glasses kept filling right back up.
Oh, and I almost forgot the best part – that sunset!
Isn’t it just magnificent?!
The local fishermen sailed past, waving as they did…
I must have taken hundreds of photos of that sunset. It just seemed to keep changing with each passing minute…
Yes, by the time the sun was starting to disappear in the horizon, the champagne had fully kicked in – which only served to increase my appreciation of the sunset!
Eventually, we made our way back home, thoroughly pleased with the experience and ready for another evening relaxing on the island…
The evening by the way, was filled with delicious food (again – my expectations were high by this point and always exceeded), followed by cocktails and dancing.
I went to bed, pleased as punch with myself and how amazing the entire day had been!
Waking up the next morning to this sight below of course only served to increase my appreciation of the beauty of the island… (well that an a quick snorkelling session after breakfast). 😉
Eventually though, it was time to say farewell to everyone at the island! We’d had such an amazing time here and a whole range of exciting experiences that it was so hard to say goodbye.
Alas, we had to bid them farewell and make our way back to the next island we would be calling home in the Maldives…
We sped towards Male again…
…where a new boat was waiting to take our to our next destination in the Maldives.
But more on that in an upcoming post! 🙂
